Hypnosis, when it is combined with a structured plan to help a person manage psychological or physical symptoms, can be called Clinical Hypnotherapy. A trained and qualified Hypnotherapist will work with a prospective client to tailor treatment, relative to the client's requested outcome.
A Clinical Hypnotherapist will need to know exactly what it is you want - even if at first, you're not totally sure yourself. By listening to you and asking relevant questions, between you, you will arrive at a point where you agree on how to proceed and the length of time you feel it will be necessary to begin to effect change.
You, the client, are the focus of the treatment. Do not accept a one-size-fits all programme that hasn't been designed for you alone. Many of the techniques a hypnotherapist will use are common to the profession, and if you've seen other hypnotherapists at any time, you will no doubt recognise some of them. However, the key to your treatment is making sure that your needs are addressed with you in mind.
Having said that, there are limits to the conditions hypnotherapy can address. Even before an initial consultation can be arranged between you and the hypnotherapist, you will need to describe what it is you want to see them for. A good idea is to make a record of what your needs are before you talk to the hypnotherapist, so that nothing is left to chance.
Once you and your hypnotherapist have settled on the terms and conditions of your treatment then it can start and you will be safe in the knowledge that your treatment has been designed with your needs in mind.
